Here we are:

Here, where the violent relief of Cantabria mountains meets, in vertical competition, its higher peaks: Peña Pietra, Espigüete, Coriscao, Curavacas…

Here, where the White virgen snow melts without stopping in transparent rivers that should give their water and life to the old Castilla: The Pisuerga of Peñalabra and The Carrion of Fuentes Carrionas, that give miles away their caudal to the powerful Canal of Castilla; the Esla of Valdeburón and Tierra de la Reina, borned in the joys of countless fonts, since here go down to give their tribute of water to father Duero.

Here, bordered to the north, the vertigo of Potes’s hoyadas, Valdeón and Sajambre overcoated by the powerfull towers of Picos of Europe. To the South, in short distance, the Catellana plain is made way of pilgrims looking for Fisnisterre: Osorno, Frómista, Sahagún, León…

Here, in a world where nature is not a topic but space surround. Bear and wolf, chamois and roe deer, badgers and wild boar (trout, otters and herons in our rivers) live in our mountains. The yew and holly between oak forest, the beech and birch give they shelter and sustenance.
